[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm there, another big milestone for me on TrekNature. It has really been a great time so far, and I am sure that it will stay that way for a long time to come. I posted my first photo on the 18th of January of this year and got my first critique from Luc and Pablo. If I look back at that first photo, I can clearly see that I have gained so much knowledge on photography that if I could do it all over, many photos would be much better. But each photo posted is a great memory, and that is important for me as well.

I also wanted to use this moment to thank a few people, but I am afraid I will forget somebody. So I rather keep it more general. But, I am sure that these persons know how grateful I am for their help, support, critique and tips. For them; You are more then just people I know from TN, you are really good friends.

So, what about the photo. A few weeks ago, Mike and Evelynn had this little 'contest' on who could post the best photo of Cameron Falls. At that time, I didn't want to join the 'contest' but here is my version. A second version and maybe a third will follow soon. I think there is no winner. And if there is one, it is Cameron Falls it self.

Tech Talk: Shot in RAW. Converted two version to JPEG of which one was 2/3 steps underexposure. Merged both photos to one. Added frame, resized and USM.

I really like your perspective here, Niek. I like the rocks on the bottom for the broad persective. Glad to see you got a bright and sunny day with perfect blue skies, and the lighting works very well -- amazing contrast (thanks to the merge I think, I'm gonna have to try that!). Welcome to the club (100, Cameron Falls, whatever...)

'X' marks the spot. Seems like your photo is voting for itself in a very natural way.
Congratulations with your 100th posting. I was privileged to witness your progress firsthand from posting to posting since your first photo hit the site. I can only concur with your notes and it is evident when one reviews you portfolio. May we still see many more such lovely photos from your lens?
If I may critique one small aspect of this photo though I would say the foliage and the cliff face in the background might be slightly under exposed. If you could have maintained the same level of exposure than you had with the rocks and foliage in the foreground it would have made a great difference.
However, having said that it does not distract from the fact that it is an excellent photo.

Hi Niek,

Congratulation on your 100th posting. For my part, I am 1/3 on my way there.
There is a lot of elements in this picture. Good POV and DOF. Using a polarizer filter helps take away the reflection on the water and rocks. The effect of the water falls is just right. As you probably know, I like pictures of falls when they have a blurry look to it, but that's just a personal preference. I also like the the deep blue sky poking over the falls. Just a minor halo effect with the trees and sky, probably caused by the sharpening of your picture, but noting major. Nice work for your 100th. Can't wait to see your next 100 pictures. You are a good inspiration for my own ones.

Hello Niek,
a very unique piece of landscape, taken in marvellous well saturated colours with perfect details all over the place.
Taking the small things such as pebbles and flowers in the foreground just as important as the spectacular falls in the BG, your image has become very inviting, pleasantly peaceful and silent.

Ik ben niet de eerste die het zegt (en zal ook denk ik niet de laatste zijn..), maar gefeliciteerd met je 100ste foto op TN :-)
En hij is schitterend, een aparte waterval op een prachtplek zo te zien. De kleuren zijn prachtig!

You are such a nice, modest person Niek. Your picture wins, hands down! I like your foreground elements. I was there on such a dark, gray day that my photo has very little color. This is very nice...and nice photo merging. We didn't go to see this falls this trip although we were camped right near there. I did want to go see your double falls in Glacier but I couldn't remember which it was. When the rain/snow started in Glacier and we couldn't hike the high country I thought we should try your falls. I remembered that it started with an "A". We were so exhausted from the strenuous hike the day before but we trudged on...I drug Jerry up this incredibly steep trail with his blisters and all only to get there and say "Oh... wrong falls. Never mind". So we hobbled back down and went to lunch and the Many Glacier Hotel!

Congratulations on your 100th post. I love the way you keep track of all this stuff. I don't even know how many I have posted! I think we have all progressed a lot thanks to TN and the friends we have made here.

HI Niek, congratulations on your 100th post! Well done. The waterfall is splendid and the composition is good although I think I would have zoomed in a little more to get rid of the chink of sky. The light is a little hard and contrasty I'm guessing this is near to midday? Well done.
