Hi,
I'm sorry to bother you with an other squirrel, but I wasn't really supposed to "publish" today as I was very deceived about my bird's pictures...

So, I was in a park near home, photographing birds, when this Gray Squirrel came very close to me on this fence and he stopped in this position for maybe 30 seconds without moving or even breathing :-) I really wonder what he was doing... The scarred squirrels I saw so far were not acting this way... If someone knows what he is doing, I'll be thankful :-)

Hello Claudine

A very amusing shot.Perhaps she thinks if she lays very low and flat ,you won't be able to see her.Funny shot.Good timing anyway.Nice eye contact. The colours are very natural and well saturated.TFS

Hi Claudine,

It looks like she may have ate too many nuts and got her big belly stuck, or maybe she is like a Cat, when they get themselves stuck in a funny position they always look at you as if to say "I meant to do that" nice capture anyway with nice detail and lovely colours too.

TFS Hilary :o)

What a great shot - I agree - he looks like he's just resting after too large a meal.
Nice DOF - blurring above the fence, yet capturing the wooden detail. Thank you.

Maybe he was just stopping to observe you for a second... "if i lay real still maybe she won't see me..." beautiful capture! TFP!

That must have been one bad acorn. This squirrel looks like it has a serious belly ache. The detail and color are fantastic. Well done.

Very extremely cute!1 I actually said this when I saw the thumbnail and it turned out to be the title you chose wisely. My son is sitting next to me laughing his head off. Thank you for sharing this adorable post.
Christan

wonderful capture of the moment
gave me quite the chuckle
very sharp in the head, eye and foot

Now this is what I have come to expect from Squirrels, completely laid back, just watching life go by! ;) Nice candid shot, wel taken.

Greg

Hi Claudine.
Very funny photo. I think this squirrel wants be an actrist and she nows that you catch its photos and publish to internet. After publishing somehow or other a film director will see her photo and she becomes famous.
Of course she have to behave strangely to attract your attention.
OK. This is my sketch. :)
And about photographical technique... It doesn't any word. Anyway other friends told allthings above me. Just very funny and perfect. TFS.
With my best wishes.

Hello Claudine

Very interesting picture and position too. Great sharpness and very natural colours.

I think the squirrel is trying to blend with the surroundings. I have seen that before in my local forest on branches but never on a fence. If they get scarred they can freeze totally for some time. When danger is gone they just jump away. Lots of animals practise that. I have seen doves play dead on their bag when a hawk is flying over the area. When the hawk is gone they turn over and act like normal.

Regards
Mogens

Hi Claudine,
Comical pose, I like it.
It's what makes a photo special, and you have "seized the day".. Great title too :)
Very well done.

Debes tenerla amaestrada Claudine... lo único que falta es que aparezca bailando con galera y con bastón.
Otra excelente entrega de tu colleción de estos maravillosos animales.
Bien hecho, otra vez.
Mis mejores saludos... Ricardo

You should have trained her Claudine... the only thing that it lacks is that she appears dancing with hat and cane.
Another excellent post of your colleción of these wonderful animals.
Well done, another time.
My best greetings... Ricardo

Hello Claudine,
Did he have a mishap when landing?
Maybe he has eaten too much, he looks like a chubby guy...
Moment very well captured in this funny presentation!

Hi Claudine,
A funny and good portrait of this intriguing squirrel. I do not know about squirrel behaviour, but from a human pov lot of food in the belly seems probable :-)
Wonderful light, composition, details and pose!

Hi Claudine.
You managed to capture a very interesting and funny scene. Quality of the shot is excellent as usual. DOF, POV, sharpness of the main subject and blurriness of the BG are great. Colour are really true. Bravo.
Alexei.

Ho ho ho! Really a funny moment with this cute squirrel, i have no idea about what he was doing, but maybe that stomach full of nuts and when it was jumping, the gravity pulled him below or i can say it has great camouflage with the fence:-)

LOL that is just great. I've just been to a family party at a restaurant and I feel just like this squirrel! Sometimes you have just had too much to eat and need a rest.

Lovely picture. Nice POV, Details and colours

Hello Claudine,
I have no idea about grey squirells behavior but that doesn't look very natural but it no doubt looks amusing ;-) The subject is very interesting and the picture technically very good, definitely a good post for TN.
WELL DONE!

wow! very cute and funny! amazing moment. nice composition. tfs

Seriously I think the answer is simply that he is doing nothing. Squirrels are so flexible that this position is nothing else than relaxing to that one.
I'm so glad you shared that pic. This is so lovely. Brilliantly photographed with no nits at all.

Great shot of a squirrel working on his pecks

Wow great action shot. These little guys are always doing funny things on my fence too.

Bonjour Claudine,

Une bonne prise de vue de cet écureuil gris qui semble figer sur la clôture. La photo a une bonne composition, netteté et de belles couleurs. Bonne journée.
