Great Blue Heron [Ardea herodias].
Lakes, ponds, rivers and marshes.
This large heron is frequently found standing at the edge of a pond or marshy pool. I was surprised to find this heron at a pond so close to a public pathway and not far from a busy school. I tried to move closer but it allowed me so far and no further, a shame there was so much growth at the edge of the pond.
(Note: I think that I am correct in saying that this is a Great Blue, but if I am wrong, please let me know). |
