[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Spending this day in Wells Gray Provincial Park, we visited several falls there. Helmcken Falls was the first one we came across during our hike.
The roaring sound of the water plunging into the deep was overwhelming and the view of this fall was a spectaculair one!
Underneath the waterfall was a big chunk of ice, still left over from the winter.

Here is some more information about it:

Helmcken Falls is a waterfall on the Murtle river. The falls are the fourth highest in Canada with a 141 metre drop.
This is one of the greatest waterfalls in the world, as well as one of the most powerful waterfalls on the North American continent as well. Based on a scale conceived by Greg Plumb, author of the book A Waterfall Lovers Guide to the Pacific Northwest, Helmcken Falls is probably in the top 5, behind the likes of Niagara and Yosemite Falls. The falls are viewed from a perch over 175 meters feet above the canyon floor. During the winter, a massive 60m tall cone of ice forms around the base of the falls, no doubt one of the most interesting spectacles around.

Wat een super spectaculaire waterval. Het lijkt wel alsof er achter de waterval nog een hele ruimte is. Prachtige kleuren en super controle over de belichting. Heb je toevallig ook nog een opname van dichterbij?

This is a very strange rock formation, probably formed by the water over the years...
Image is well composed with good forground interest, and the trees give some scaling for an idea about the height!

What a waterfall. the volume is amazing and the rock formation it has cut is really surprising and shown well here.

It must be really something in the spring melts with all the melt water running through.

quelle beauté cette cascade. Il manque toute fois quelque chose...: le son ! :o) Le bruit aux abords d'une telle chute doit être assourdissant d'autant qu'elle se trouve encaissée dans une sorte de gouffre.
Très belle photo, très belle composition. (Je préfère celle ci à celle au plan plus serré).

What a GREAT composition; years of wear and tear has probably gifted us with this spectacular landscape.
The photograpy is of A-1 type.
The lighting, the clarity, the focusing, the contrasts of well controlled colours are of exceptional quality.
You could EASILY enlarge this one to a poster size frame.
