This is a huge, unmissable and unmistakable smiling stork. Marabous are scavengers and can be found around refuse dumps as well as with vultures around carcasses. However they don't rely solely on scavenging, they will catch small rodents and reptiles. Airborne, the Marabou are superb flyers, soaring at high altitude across the plains.

A large male Marabou Stork, standing up to 1.5 m tall and weighing nearly 9 kg, is one of the largest flying birds in the world. Their wingspan approaches 2.9 m.

Hallo Sky,

It is the eye of this massive bird that gives it a funny smiling face, Sky. You have got the angle perfect.
I am much impressed with the swathe of its powerful wing, though.
Nice portrait, indeed.
Thanks and bye.

Hi sky,

Nice capture with good pov and colors, but I think its a bit soft on focus (think is focused on first wing, but not on the eye),nice shot anyway,

Regards,

Paul

Hi Sky,
This is nice portrait of a strange bird :) What a face! He seems like smiling actually. I like this POV and composition with good timing to catch its feather moving. I must agree with PVS about focus but it is a really interesting picture. TFS,
