[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday we got our first real snow of the season. I went from shooting fall colors the day before to winter scenes. This is taken along the Fernland trail in the town of Banff.

One of the advantages of living so far north is I get to scoop you on the first fall and winter photos. Of course, that reverses in the spring and summer. That must be some sort of photographic justice... [I sure hope she's not blind, eh ;-)...]

PP: A resize, frame, and USM.

Hello Mike

A beautiful snow covered scene. The river meandering through the photo is wonderful. It gives a nice flow to the shot.Good job on the POV.TFS

Rob

Hi Mike, great shot. I like the way the tree in the foreground first attracts the eye and then you are drawn into the scene by the river. Very crisp and clear.
Well done, regards
Patrick

Wow, that is one heck of a first snow, you make sure to keep it all up there! ;) Nice work, excellent exposure.

Greg

Hello Mike,
Beautiful!!!
And it seems like you've had quite a snowfall for the first...
Snow is very well exposed, with nice textures...
Well composed image!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Great choice of FG tree with the meandering stream trailing off into the distance. That bit of brown brush in the center of the photo is a bit distracting, but otherwise a great shot.

Hi Mike,
I prefer this one over the one posted in TL. The composition is really good with the huge tree perfectly positioned and the creek taking me further into the photo. It is great to explore the photo and find the brown and green colors.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Mike,
a lovely image full of ambiance. Maybe a slight shift in the levels would give some more contrreast to the snow. Compliments, Jacob

Wow....it really happened just like you said it would. I really like this shot Mike. It is just a super composition. It is well exposed, has great values, and the little bit of color makes it very rich.

Hi Mike,
A beautiful winter landscape scene. Very well composed and framed with the use of the fallen tree in the foreground to the right. It almost looks mono toned except for traces of brown in the branches and grasses.

Mike you have caught some good detail in the snow here and not overexposed it and it is a nice shot.

But I find the brown bare branches infrotn of the water quite intrusive and almost cluttering the picture...

Hi Mike,
thats a lot of snow! Seeing shots like this make me actuially look forward to winter. The composition is wonderful a sense of serenity and purity comes up. POV, scenery and exposure are excellent.
TFS..Sky

Beautiful wintery scene. The exposure is perfectly handled, no easy thing with such a dynamic range. The colors are also subtle, with just enough brown to warm the frame. Well done.
