Blanding's Turtle: species at risk
Emydoidea blandingii

Why is the Blanding's Turtle in danger?
The greatest threats to the Blanding's turtle are habitat loss outside the park and a shortage of suitable nesting sites. Road kill and raccoon predation also limit the size of the population. Nest flooding and short summer season can also contribute to the poor survival rate of the eggs.
Another concern is the small proportion of juveniles and young adults. Surveys show that most turtles are over 30 years of age, although in recent years, as a result of active management and improved survey methods, it appears there have been improvements in the survival rate of hatchlings.

Very good close-up Luc.
Nice colours, good detail and composition.
The DOF is little shallow but thats the best you can do with this close-up.
The black BG work very nice in this case.
Very well done.

BTW.

Nice one Luc. Great macro shot of his face. Seeing just his face so close you don't recognise it as a turtle. Good details and colours. Well done.
