| This Darkeyed Junco shot was taken during the same storm as my last posting. Once again he is fluffed up to insulate against the storm, but instead of looking for shelter, he's eating to stay warm. My province of Alberta has four different kinds of Juncos, Slate colored, Northern rockies, Oregon and this one the Pink sided. They feed on bugs, berries and seeds. Juncos range in size from 13-17cm. Not sure whether I should have edited out the snow on his breast. |

Rick, this is a nice frame filling shot of theis little bird but I think that the picture has struggled with the metering because of the snow. I have posted a workshop in which I have increased contrast and saturation a bit and tried to make the bird a bit better defined. Regards Phil.C
what a cutie! he certainly is fluffed up! I think its a cute photo..I did a workshop of this cute little bird just for fun..:o)

WOW Rick, young master showing off compostion and emotion all at once! There is nothing that can explain OUR winter better.
A small creature exposed to the elements, caught in survival mode! What a shot that expresses so much at once! Well done Rick! A signature piece. Jay
PS When WSs produce results - which in themselves are perhaps demonstrating clever use of PP - that destroy the mood of the moment, we need to be very alert.
PSS. As to: "Not sure whether I should have edited out the snow on his breast." the answer based on the current ToS is "NO!"... You will find people here who simply scoff at that part of the ToS, < I call that being a scoff-ToS... > but I believe the ToS is clear in this department. No cloning unless it is a speck of dust or something like that. But it does not mean we remove what was there, i.e. twigs, branches, snowflakes etc. ... Welll that is my anwer to "Not sure...".
