The Saga Continues! This is the 7th photo in a series of watching a storm build on Lake Erie. My last post the photo was taken at 4:00, this is just 1/2 hour later, The storm was here. The winds were clocked at 58 MPH at this point it was so loud if someone said something to be outside I wouldn't of been able to hear them. The wind was loud enough but the power of the water, the noise was amazing. You can see from this photo that my neighbors gazebo is not fairing very well and the wind is so strong that its blowing the white caps right off the top of the waves.
At this point this is the worst storm I've ever experienced here, normally we get storms in November , they call it "The Gales of November" what happens is the water is quite warm after having been heated by the sun all summer when during November is when the cold air starts coming into this area, when the cold air mixes with the warm water it really gets a torment. This year we had a pretty warm November so the gales are coming right after one another now on the lakes. The sun was starting to set so I wouldn't be able to take any more photos of the storm today. The forecast is for this to go all night though. I have to tell you its pretty loud when your trying to sleep through one of these. I told my son is like someone running a vaccum cleaner in the next room. I did sleep but wondered what I would wake to the next day. Before I went to bed I talked to my husband and he said he had heard from some of the "guys" that the waves out in the middle of the lake were now estimated to be 20'....

Tomorrow I'll post some AFTER photos.

Thanks for viewing my photo and for your comments!
Donna:o)

P.S. - This photo isn't the best...at this point honestly it was really hard to stand out there. I just opened one of our sliders and leaned against the house ....

Hi Donna,
looks like the gazebo is taking a beating. Excellent work on capturing the force of this storm. The water does look like its pounding.
Great POV to observe this natures drama.

This really does look powerful. The gazebo looks like it is about to go. The bird house seems to be fairing up. This is really angry nature.

Looks like indoor weather to me!!
The waves really say more than a thousand words - it looks like a real storm!
We do get december storms here in Norway too. They come across the atlantic ocean and hit the west coast with tremendous force, usually from december to january, but the last couple of years, the storm season has extended several months in each end.. making coastal life kind of sour..!
I hope, waking up, that everything was where you had put it the day before!
