[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), also known as the wild duck, is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and sub-tropical areas of North America, Europe and Asia. Probably the best-known of all ducks, it gave rise to most domestic ducks, apart from the Muscovy Duck.

It is strongly migratory in the northern parts of its breeding range, and winters farther south; it is one of the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies. It also frequents Central America and the Caribbean, and has been introduced into Australia and New Zealand.

In captivity, Mallards come in wild-type plumages, white, and other colours. Most of these colour variants are rare but increasing in domestic collections.

Mallards are hunted and eaten as game. The flesh has a stonger flavour than that of the more commonly eaten domestic ducks.(wikipedia.com)

Very good close-up you have here Mircea. Good focus, sharpness and details. Very nice colours and I like your timing on the waterdrop.

Superb shot, excellent composition with a great POV, I like the tight crop a lot, very nice detail and really well saturated colours too, I especially like the water splashing from the beak while the Mallard takes a drink.

you have caught some nice lighting on the plumage and bill which has brought the colour of the duck out well.
i like the way you have caught the water drops coming from the bill but feel you should have added a bit more usm.
all in all i like it.

Magnifique portrait de ce Malard en action. Beau détails et belle prise des gouttes d'eau. A f/8 les détails auraient peut-être été un peu mieux mais il aurait été nécessaire de conserver une vitesse convenable pour figer les gouttes.
