Hello Janice

This is the second posting in a row where I've learned a new word. 'Hoarfrost' is something I never heard of, maybe due to the fact that I live in a place where even normal frost is unheard of. Sunny Zululand just doesn’t know what frost look like.

I like your composition with the white tree and the vegetation in the front well enhanced by the darker trees in the BG. Although the photo is not perfectly divided into 1/3 horizontal areas (so what) I still like the 3 distinct colour ranges. The white at the bottom area, the band of darkish trees in the middle, and the beautiful blue sky at the top. The details are sufficiently sharp and the exposure was well managed.

Hi Janice,

I went through your portfolio and love your work. Your love of nature is evident throughout your pictures.
What I like here is the contrast of your main subject from the dark BG trees. The sun shinning on the frost gives a nice crystal appearance to it. I would have probably took the picture a bit closer to the tree to have more details of it.

This is very nice, Janice. The white against the dark BG is very effective. If we have to be cold, it is nice that it is at least beautiful. Thanks for sharing a nice image and I hope 2007 is filled with other great photo ops for you!

Hoarfrost?! Boy you know everything. Great capture of the outcome of this phenemon. (I have a shot of this, but I had no idea that there was a name for it).

Hi Janice,
it's a very nice picture of the frost. It use to be very cold when the hoar frost appear. The tree really light up.
I like the POV, compos and the contrast here.

This shot looks a lot like you took it along the Bowriver, along the hiking trail that runs below the sawmill in Cochrane?

Anyway nice capture of the hoarfrost laden poplar against the dark firs on the the other side. Good contrast and good compo.

Hi Janice

I apparently missed this one probably because i was gone in the mountains the time it was uploaded by i'm glad i saw it now in your gallery. It really caught my eyes immediately!
The contrast here between the white FG and the darker forest from the BG make out an outstanding composition!
The light is very well managed also, despite the face that i'm sure it wasn't the easiest and you had to be very careful not to overexpose any part.

I just love that ice tree stands out from the other trees. Nice composition.

Maybe it could need just a little more sharpening.
