[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have been very luck to capture this American Bittern in the wild. The bird was at no more than 3 meters from me, standing still for a long period. The site is a natural wilderness park close to my home in Ile-Bizard (Montreal suburb), Canada. More precisely, I was in the part of the park where there is a large marsh crossed by a long wooden pathway which people use either on foot or on bike.
The photo was taken with a Canon 75-300 mm zoom open at 300 mm, in early afternoon with lots of natural light. No tripod. No post-processing.

Very nice capture. I like this setting a lot. The focus is a little (and I mean very little) soft. Very nice capture.

Nice capture, the suroundings are shrp so I think the bird possibly moved as you took the image. You posted no details for shutter and aperture so sorry cannt advise about it.

Hermoso ejemplar Serge.
Bellos colores y buen encuadre.
Lamentablemente la imagen del ave se encuentra un poco fuera de foco, por lo que no se aprecia claramente.
Me atreví a realizar un trabajo... espero sea de tu agrado.

Beautiful specimen Serge.
Pretty colors and good frame.
Lamentably the image of the bird is a little outside focus, reason why it is not appraised clearly.
I dared to make a workshop, I hope you like it.

What a great shot of this bird. You were so lucky to be able to be so close without it moving off. I don't think I have ever seen an American Bittern before, so it is very interesting. I also didn't know there was a wildlife parkon Ile Bizard. I'll have to take a look some time.

Bravo pour ce butor Serge. Chanceux :)
Moi aussi, j'ai osé le retravaillé

Hi! Am happy to have found this photo as bitterns are a rare bird to photograph! We have them very infrequently in the Wainfleet marsh in Ontario. Good colouration and markings despite a little blur. Thanks for posting!
