Great pose, nice clarity with good DOF. Captures the subject wonderfully. I love all the discarded sunflower (?) seed shells around it.

It's interesting that you say they are more aggressive than the grey squirrels. Here in the UK, where the grey is an alien species, there is a great outcry against them; they are blamed (unfairly) for the dwindling numbers of the native reds. Aggressiveness is often cited in the complaint against the grey squirrel.

This is a really nice photo of a red squirrel :) The winter looks better if such creatures can be met ;)
Anyway, a little better DOF would be nice to show all details of squirrel's body.

What an adorable capture!
Ever since i was a little boy i really loved these animals - no matter the color or size...but this one resembles more what we have here :)
The fact that it's smaller is somewhat visible, but i think the great pose it's in just attracts attention and looks terrific!
Very good POV, too and excellent eye-contact managed here as well.
Very good exposure and also lovely natural colors.
Very beautifully framed and composed.

Hi Sky

Sorry that I'm a bit late with this update, but the rat-race really had me in a strangle hold since the weekend.

This one is so cuddly and cute that undoubtedly it moved straight to my list of favourites. However, reading your notes just once again made me aware of the fact that nothing ever seems to be really as peaceful as it sometimes might appear to be in nature. This cute little guy apparently packs a mean streak as far as its behaviour is concerned towards other squirrels, such as the grey squirrel. Probably its just a bit of the ‘small dog’ temperament manifesting in this little rodent.

Your composition is excellent and I like how you used the trunk, the broken twig, and the seeds in the foreground as props to add some additional interest and to augment the visual stimuli in the shot. The lovely colours, clear and sharp details, the stunning OOF area in the BG, and the excellent exposure all aided to give this shot some added impact.
