[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After a challenging photo session, the little chipmunk receives his well-deserved reward.

Before he added me to his "circle of friends", I used to leave some grains near one of his tunnel entrances and then waited (at a distance of approx. 5m) for him to come out for the food.
Later, I discovered that I could even "call him out" using a "chip-chip" sound (similar to the "chipmunk language").
In time, I was able to set the grains closer to my waiting place, but I still had to avoid any sudden movements. One time, he was scared away by some nearby leafs, moved by the wind.

When I first decided to hold the grains in my hand, the wait was a little longer,... but it was worth the patience. After sniffing the air (for 3-4 minutes) , the chipmunk circled 2 times around me to make sure the perimeter was "safe" (I felt like a suspect in a police movie) and then, with quite a few hesitations, he approached my hand, put his tiny paws on my fingers (so gently I could hardly feel them) and started stuffing his cheek pouches with the offerings.

From that day on, each time I made "the offer", the whole scenario repeated itself (with less hesitations and sometimes just one encirclement).

However, feeding and photographing at the same time was not an easy task, since even the sound of zooming in made my subject disappear in his hole.

In order to take this photo I had to stand still, with the sunflower grains in my left hand, while holding the camera, in shooting position and having the zoom already set, in my right hand.

I guess, in the end, it was a reward for me, too.

Hola Anton, agradable imagen y excelentes detalles... saludos

Great shot.. POV and DOF is spot on. I'm really jealous now. I wish I had creatures like that in my garden.

Wow. Very nice details. Razor sharp focus. Beautiful rich colors. Great note! I don't think I could hold a camera steady enough with just one hand to get a shot so sharp.
