Le Pic chevelu

est un pic à 4 doigts dont les teintes sont le noir et le blanc. Il a un bec presqu'aussi long que la tête et le mâle adulte a une bande rouge vif en travers de la nuque. C'est une reproduction en plus grand du Pic mineur. Il fréquente les forêts et les terrains boisés et préfère les endroits moins denses mais surtout oû il y a des arbres à feuilles caduques. Il construit son nid dans une cavité qu' il creuse lui même dans un arbre vert ou dans un arbre mort. En hiver on le rencontre dans toute une variété d'arbres souvent les arbres d' ornerment ou les buissons.On le trouve même dans les parcs urbains. Il aime les graines de tournesol et si vous voulez l'attirer et le voir revenir souvent, pendez lui dans un filet textile à larges mailles un morceau de suif ou de gras animal. En hiver, vous le verrez fréquenter les mangeoires assez souvent et il n'est pas très farouche. Si vous approchez un peu trop près de lui il a une tactique bien personnelle pour vous échapper. Il va tourner sur la branche qui le supporte afin que cette branche soit toujours entre vous et lui.

Aire de dispersion : Régions boisées du Sud.
Nombre d' oeufs : 3 à 5 oeufs blancs.

Je n'avais encore jamais vu cet oiseau auparavant - je n'en avais même jamais entendu parler ! Il est magnifique en tout cas. La photo est trés belle aussi, car elle met en valeur les belles plumes blanches. Excellent détails, couleurs naturelles et très jolie composition. Félicitations !

J'aime beaucoup voir l'oiseau avec ses plumes gonflées comme ça, il devait faire froid au moment de la prise de la photo. J'aime bien aussi ce contact des yeux, il te regarde directement. Les détails et sa pose sut superbes. Merci!

I really like the crop here and the very interesting composition it creates. The space you left in the direction of the bird's vision is excellent.

Hello Jean Paul,
This may be the first hairy woodpecker photo I've seen. Excellent composition. There is some noise-looking artifacts in the dark areas. Also the head does not look as sharp as the rest of the body. They may all be jpeg-related issues.
