[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) is native to central and eastern North America, from southern Canada to as far west as Manitoba, and south to the Gulf of Mexico. It has been introduced to western North America, Europe, South Africa and Australia.

In England, it was thought that grey squirrels drove out and killed red squirrels. There is no evidence to upport this theory but they certainly seem much stronger and more adaptable than the native squirrel and have taken over many of its former territories.

I don't wish to comment on the political aspect of these "Squirrel Wars", but I was really astonished to find out that last year a member of the European Parliament (William Richard Fletcher-Vane, 2nd Baron Inglewood), proposed a plan according to which schoolchildren should be encouraged to eat grey squirrels in an effort to save the endangered red species.

All I can say for now is that I prefer to eat my cookies... and this sqirrel seems to agree with me on that ;)

I took this photo in Quebec City, in a park called Bois-de-Coulonge - a little "squirrel heaven", where "greys" and "reds" coexist peacefully.

Nice photo! Very sharp, and well composed.

Hi Anton,
Well the table is served!
It's really good the POV you used to present us this grey squirrel, with the food just in front of the cut tree, that is used like table.
I like so much the light and the overall illumination here, thanks that you got great details on the animal's fur. It also creates a good contrast with the dark background.
The composition used works pretty well for this presentation.
Congratulations, thanks for share and happy week end,
JM

Hello Anton

Nice picture of this little "nutcracker". Very good sharpness all over the little fellow. Nice colours but slightly overexposed which I easily could live with if I had a close-up like this. The composition is very good with the squirrel out of centre.

Mogens
