This coyote and his friend paid me a visit while my dogs and I were out for a hike in the Cypress Hills near Ressor Lake. As they came nearer I put my dogs on leads and the coyotes seperated one went off into the trees but this one stayed quite close. At one point when my dogs barked at him he sat down and howled. My guess is he wanted help from his buddy in case of a fight, but there never was a show of aggression or fear by this coyote and his friend did come out of the trees after awhile.

Very nice photo! And the coyote looks good as well.

TFS,

Elena

Really nice model Rick :)
I'm not sure about that blurred part of foreground in lower right corner, but on the other hand it adds some 3-D sens into the photo - so maybe it should stay like that :]

I like the natural colours in the scene.

Don't you think that the sharpness is a tad shifted back ?

Hi rick,
Another very nice shot of wild animals! Nicely composed and great colours. Well done Rick and TFS.

salut Rick,
belle image en milieur naturel, le genre d'image qui n'est le fruit du hasard. Excellente netteté, belle lumière diffuse.

This is a lovely capture with a nice soft, limited palette of color. I dragged this onto the desktop and noticed a lot more saturation than was apparent on TN... again. It also sharpened up really nicely in Photoshop... particularly the face.

Hi Rick,
nice winter time picture of this coyote,it blends in well with the dried grasses and bushes.Years ago I encountered a small pack of these guys and I was only 20 feet away from them at the time(and me without a camera)they just looked at me and continued to catch and eat gophers while I watched.Your photo has the same sort of muted look a lot of my photos have taken this time of year, but that is not a bad thing.I like this one TFS. Bob

Hi Rick
I sure love the colours here, the coyotes fur blends into his background so nicely. This is one of those subtle shots with soft colour differences. The coyotes eyes are very pretty.

Hello Rick

This is a beautiful animal,it looks well fed and the coat is nice and well groomed.Very good detail and natural colours. They are amazing to watch.A well focused shot TFS

Rob

Hi Rick, very cool. Any coyotes I've seen I could never photograph. They just wouldn't stick around long enough. This guy does look very self assured. Great colour and love the stare.

Thanks, John

Hello Rick,
must have been quite the adventure running into the coyotes. I like the shot, the attentive pose is very nice. Good sharpness and very nice composition.
Well done.

Hello Rick,
Dogs and coyotes... I think that dogs fear them do they? It is a superb capture of this beautiful animal. I like this natural lightning and environment with great details and his pose. I saw one exactly like this one a few weeks ago but he was at about 800 meters from me; he was the same color. This is a lucky capture again :-) Thanks,
Claudine

Nice wildlife shot, Rick.
This fellow in his natural environment; good work!

Beautiful candid shot of this coyote. Wonderful expression on his face. The blurring of the foreground in lower right is a bit distracting, but not enough to fault this photo in anyway that I can see. Beautiful the way the coyote blends in to with his environment.

I just want to know where you work so I can ask... "Can I come, too?" ;-)
