[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
... aka Sandy Cove ...

In the middle of this month < Feb 2007 > we had some "weather"" come through. It lasted a few days.
After the worst of the storm had passed I invited a buddy to come along for a photoshoot
to a spot both of us know as spectacular in stormy weather.

So here we are... one of my first shots on arriving.
The sun is breaking thru ominous clouds, lighting up the waves
that are driven like hydraulic horses urged along by eolean whips,
only to crash on the coastal granite.

The gray against the trees in the b/g is the seaspray that is carried inland by the wind.
The black things in the air - along the rightside - is some seaweed
but particularly kelp being flung up by the crashing waves...

I only had to run once to escape a sneaker wave that chased me. It was numbing CCCCCCÖLD. Brrrrrrrr.
I had to quit eventually, not cause I was cöld, but because my lens was cöated with seaspray.

nice capture that conveys the feeling of a cold ocean. i'd tend to crop a bit more off of the left though to highlite the foamy breaking waves in the mid right.

What a nice reflection of the stormy weather. Great reproduction of the water surface, playing of light reflections and sun beams. Great POV and composition of the shot as well as exposure (your case of light condition is so complex) and sharpness of the image. Perfectly and artistically done. My compliments and TFS.

This sea is a real furry! I really like those tones of colors, details and lightning. This sun lights the water like it was made of silver. This is really beautiful with great wild mood :) TFS,

The forces of the ocean is well exposed here, as the waves are washing the shores of Nove Scotia!
The backlight adds a beautiful effect to the surf, all well framed and presented in an attractive composition!

Hi Jay. It is good to see another mood of the sea in your part of Canada. Excellent clarity and colours. The light effect is entrancing. TFS. Murray.

If one were to change the white surface to a
yellow-orange, this scene would closely resemble molten lava, so smooth and "flowing" is the water.
I like the way you've captured water's surface; it has a rather surreal aspect to it.
Nice mood, great colors, great light and reflections!!

Nice capture of the sun beams down out of the cloud cover and brighting the waves for a great shot.
