Today I returned to the park "Bois de Coulonge" where I had encountered some funny squirrels last summer.
I don't know if any of my old acquaintances have come to greet me, but in the short time I spent today in the park, I was practically surrounded by tiny curious eyes and fluffy tails.
I discovered some seeds in my pocket, which I kept for potential bird encounters, but I was happy to share them among my squirrely friends... and, of course, I used the opportunity to take a few pictures.

This squirrel looks like he's been struck by lightning, but he is in fact just a variety of the Eastern Grey Squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis. They are common in northeastern North America and, in some places, outnumber the grey squirrels by a ratio of about 10 to 1. Black squirrels have also been found in the UK and in eastern Russia.

Hi Anton, this is an interesting contrast between white and black. Your title is very fitting. It almost looks to me like he's playing in the snow. I didn't know squirrels did this. You have picked up great detail even with a difficult shot such as this.

Thanks, John

great pic, very cute, TFS Ori

Wow I love this photo. It's wonderful to see the squirrel playing in the snow. Wonderful composition and great contrast with the snow. I have never seen a Black squirel in the UK, I must look them up.

Hi Anton

This is wonderful, I have only seen black squirrels at a distance and then only in Austria. This is really cute with the snow all over him. You did a really good job with such dark fur against the bright white snow. Great Pose from your little friend
