"Lake Louise" = " Lake of the little fishes" = "EMERALD LAKE."

On 14 th. October 2006 at about 11:45 am we decided to hike up to "Plain 6 Glaciers".

It took us a little over 3 hours to get to the parking lot at Lake Louise from Calgary in Alberta. We had started out rather late.

It was about 4:30 pm when we got to the "tea" house from where to took many many photographs of the surrounding summits making part of the "Plain 6 Glaciers" scenery.

It was starting to get dark; we were the last ones in that part of the world. Once the sun "sets" behind those mountains the hike trail can hardly be seen. So, we began to rush back to the safety of the parking lot.

At about 5:01pm, on our return, we "sighted" Lake Louise in the distance. This is the image we saw & you are seeing it now.

In August of 1882 Tom Wilson had named it "EMERALD LAKE" though he knew that his native guide, Edwin Hunter, knew it as " Lake of the LITTLE FISHES".

However, all that changed.

Hi Mario,
Wonderful view of this lake. Excellent POV and composition.
Best regards, José m.

Hi Mario
This capture brings back many good memories. The Plains of Six Glaciers is such a nice hike, and when you get to the top, fresh pie, tea or bread is waiting. I love the way the mountains on both side keep your eye focused down the valley toward the ski hill. The colours came out so soft yet vivid. Very well composed!
I had my video camera on this hike and while having a piece of pie part of the glacier came off the mountain to the east, I have the whole thing captured on my camera. To cool!
TFS Janice

Hi Mario,
What a very spectacular view. I am sure that it makes you feel small when you are walking down to the lake surrounded by these huge cliffs. The colors and light are beautiful, especially the slightly hazy look in the BG.
TFS,
Niek

Zeca
