[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This area in Mont St-Bruno National Park was special. It was the end of the day, light was low, forest was getting darker, and here most of the red leaves had fallen to the forest ground. Every where around us was red. This picture gives an idea of what it looked like.

Used the tripod because of long exposure, average f/stop for a nice DOF, polarized filter to bring out the colours.

Sharpen, calibrated contrast and saturation in RAW, converted to JPEG, resize for posting.

RP (ACDSee Pro):

As Tim (BillyGoat) and Evelynn pointed out, the sky trough the canopy was over-exposed. I adjusted levels and highlight to balance out the exposure.

Patrick,

The overexposed sky is definitely better than in your first post, but I would still be inclined to crop out the top fifth or so of the photo, which would bring more attention to the wonderful leaves and the tree trunks.
Also cropping out the left a bit since there looks to be a bit of roadway or something in the corner. I'll post a WS so you can see what I mean.

This works very well and I dare to offer the opinion that a bit of sky is not remiss here at all. I like the blues that tell us that the forest has created its own shade and that it is not created by a cloudy sky, IMHO.
Super colours throughout and good clean details

This is nice with the carpet of leaves. I fully agree with Tim's suggestions and workshop. It's best not to include any highlights in the woods. Well done otherwise.

Hi Patrick

What a lovely colourful shot of this seasonal scene. The small aperture (f/13) and the extended shutter speed (2 sec) ensured a remarkable result with ample details and stunning rich colours. The tint of autumn potpourri on the forest floor ensured a visually pleasing result. The composition is great and the exposure was spot-on.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Patrick,
A very pleasant depiction of this autumn forest!
Attracttive composition with the contrasty tree trunks, good lighting of the foliage creates a pleasant feeling of depth...

Bonjour Patrick,

Hi Patrick,
I have to be honest. I prefer the origional one. In that one the sky looks more natural to me. I wouldn't worry about a few hot spots with a photo like this.

Niek

Hello Patrick!
My eyes went right to the thumbnail of this photo. I just love the woods. I can almost smell the leaves in this photo. Beautiful shot, Love all the colored leaves on the ground and the sky sneaking peeks though the trees. Great shot TFS
