| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
String bogs are very frequent in boreal forest.
It consist of organic matter taking place over ponds and shallow lakes. Some are floating over the water and hazardous to walk by. Some people vanished under this thin layer of soil in northern Canada. The permafrost is always under these swamps. If global warming is increasing, the permafrost will melt and the string bogs will release a huge amount of CO2 into the atmosphere. |
