[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A western brown pelican (other than the one on the Ensenada harbour I posted earliear). I just love the distinct shape, heavy but gracious sihouette and most of all the fantastic plumage chromatics.
I reached the secluded island via fishing boat and trekked to the aviary colonies and this one of the good shots I took after whale and dolphin watching plus some surfing.
There is basically no stalking to get shots just turn left and right, they have no fear of humans whatsoever being a protected bird in a protected area with little is any interaction at all...
Wish I had filters with me when I took this photo a neutral density or a polarizer wouldve gone a long way...

A bit Over in some places because of the fill flash you used!
The eye of the pelican came out great and sharp!

Beautiful capture, Radu ! The color of the water in the BG makes a perfect foil to show off the colors of this Pelican. Nice use of fill flash fo this back-lit bird.

I had a guy at school with me who looked like this, didnt like him much though. I do however like this pelican a lot. The sharpness adn composition is very good. You do unfortunately have sone overexposed white areas taht a re a bit distracting.

Very well done and thanks for posting.

Good neutral background, colours on the eye, beak and throat are good. As has already been said by yourself and others, shame about the burnt out highlights, a polariser would have really helped bring out the colour and tone down the highlights a little. Still a striking image.
