The mushrooms, in wide sense, are beings eucariotas, usually multinucleados that reproduce by means of spores, motives or immobile, sexual or asexual. they are heterótrofos, without chlorophyll, and they feed for absorption (rarely for fagocitosis, like it is the case of the mushrooms ameboides). The talo (soma or vegetative body) it can be unicelular or typically filamentous (some exceptions will already be seen), and it is recovered of a quitina wall or of cellulose. The mushrooms are omnipresent and cosmopolitans; they can appear practically in any place, and to feed of the most unsuspected thing.

Récords curious fúngicos: maximum concentration of spores (161.037 for m3); more extensive micelio (Armillaria, 890 have in North America); bigger fruitful body (Rigidoporus ulmarius, 163 x 140 x 50 cm of high in February of 1995 and it continues growing); heavier fruitful body (Laetiporus sulphureus, 45,4 kg); bigger eatable mushroom (Langermannia gigantea, 2,64 m of circumference, 22 kg); more poisonous (Amanita phaloides, 5-7 amanitoxinas mg is lethal); older talo (some líquenes in Alaska, more than 3500 years).
