Diagnóstica Description: Amplitude eave: of 57 to 61 mm similar Sexes. Later wing of color dark coffee, with one borders wide yellow that covers the areas posbasal and subaverage, a row of small spots of yellow color in the area posmedia. Colitas with yellow center.

Habitat: Edges of forest, secondary bordered ways of forest and.

Service life:
Eggs: of opaque yellow color, solitary positions. Larva in fifth stage: the capsule of the head is of color sure bright coffee. The area of osmeterio of white color. The color body dark coffee, with greenish gray. It presents/displays a mount after the torácicos segments of white color, to the sides of last the 4 abdominal segments and of all the anal segment there is a spot of white color.
Pupa: short head, concave abdomen, all pupa is of color opaque coffee.

Feeding: The adults visit the flowers of Lantana camara (Verbenaceae), Impatiens spp. (Balsaminaceae), Hamelia patens, elata Psychotria, villosa Sabicea and Sabicea panamensis (Rubiacaeae).

Relations :
Piper auritum (Piperaceae).

Distribution: From Mexico to Center, the South America Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and the Antilles.

Beautiful butterfly, Ricardo. I really like the composition with the horizontal yellow line on the butterfly's wings, and the diagonal lines from the banana leaf. Color contrast is excellent as well. Well done and TFS. : )

...La hoja de plátano, que excelente fondo para los colores de esta hermosa mariposa, me gusta la belleza extendida que has captado, generalmente he visto a esta mariposa aletear demasiado, que bellos detalles captados, interesante composición, con brochazos azules que parecen pintar los ojitos y las patas. Great achievement of having the butterfly in this position. somehow the DOF can be improved.

Bonita foto de esta mariposa, me hace acordar a una que hay por aquí, que vulgarmente la llamamos mariposón limonero, por su tamaño y visitas a esta planta. Creo que tambien es de la familia Papilionidae y de mayor tamaño que la que nos muestras.
