Diagnóstica Description:
Amplitude eave: of 41 to 45 mm similar Sexes.
Previous wing of orange color with cross-sectional heavy line of black color, the end of the discal cell to the costal margin, black distal margin. Later wing of orange color with edge of the distal margin of black color, in the costal margin a strip of yellow color straw.

Habitat :Secondary edges of forest, forests, bordered ways of secondary forests.

Service Life:
Eggs: of pale yellow color, solitary.

Larv in fifth stage: capsule of the head of pale brown color, with variable small points of black and red color.
Body multicolor, the body of clear brown color with patches in the back variable of dark red and brown color, with fine black lines, the back this place setting of long black thorns and three pairs of white thorns.

Pupa: of dark brown color, with cremaster and the espiráculos brown dark, the patches strongly bent eave, with a notch between the abdomen and the thorax. The body of pupa presents/displays reflective points of cleared form

Feeding: The adults visit the flowers of Lantana camara and Cissus rhombifolia.


Hospedera plant: Passiflora vitifolia Kunth (Passifloraceae).

Distribution:From the South of the United States, Neotrópic.

Hola Ricardo, qué nitidez y suave belleza en las alas de la mariposa que traspasa mi monitor, esos dobleces, creo que esta mariposa es muy inquieta y yo no he podido verla muy bien cuando logra estar un rato parada en alguna flor o planta, el color es precioso, yo diría: tiene un "rojo tono achiote" fascinante, esta mariposa de ojos con manchas verdes y negras la has captado muh bien, sin dejar un solo detalle de ella que no podamos disfrutar. Me gusta el efecto de los poros iluminados de la hoja, le da un toque mágico y acorde al efecto y forma de los ojitos de este tipo de mariposa. Otra exitosa captura del Niño de las Mariposas que habitan en algún lugar secreto de un gran país ;) Saludos Cordiales. Feliz fin de semana. *Ninfa Urania*
