Diagnóstica Description:
Amplitude eave: of 36 to 46 mm similar Sexes.
Previous wing of color sure coffee with marginal area and costal margin of black color. A row of white spots in the average area and two rows of white small points in the marginal area. In the costal margin there are four white manchitas. Later wing clear coffee with marginal area of black color, and two rows of points of white color in the marginal area.


Habitat: Edges of forest, secondary, ways and pastizales.


Service life:
Egg: solitaires, of clear green color.

Larva in fifth stage: capsule of the head of black color, with two white ring in the face. Body of off-white violet color, with rays purple, brown reddish and yellow.

Pupa: of sure green color in form of barrel, with points golden in the patches eave. Cremaster of black color.


Feeding: The adults visit the flowers of Lantana camara and curassavica Asclepias.


Relations: Hospedera plant: Curassavica Asclepias L., Sarcostemma sp. (Asclepiadaceae).


Distribution: Of the South from the United States to Panama

Very nice colorful picture. Good sharpness and nice colors.

Cool shot, plenty of detail in the wings and well exposed. The head looks just a touch soft and I think the butterfly needs a bit more room around it to show off. Background is good.

Hola estimado Ricardo, estoy un poco atrasada en disfrutar de tu galería, cada vez tienes mejores y más bonitas imágenes de mariposas, creo que ya se han convertido en tus grandes amigas y modelos. Que barbaridad, estas venas de la mariposa me impactan, me pregunto cómo y para qué las diseña de esa manera la Madre Naturaleza, esos trazos en negros, blanco y gris deben tener una función y significado, las hace muy diferentes le dan profundidad y aumentan la textura de las alas. Su abdomen perfectamente ocultado por sus alas, eso le da una pose diferente a la modelo. Muy acertado ubicar la cabecita en el pétalo de la flor, asì podemos apreciarla con mejor claridad aunque creo que es algo dificil de obtener con gran nitidez. Esa planta exótica es muy bella solo que brilla demasiado, dificil de captar también.. afortunadamente no te afectó mucho la composición. Saludos Cordiales. Esta Danaus nunca la vi y me gusta más que la vernácula. Excelente macro y detalles, en cuanto a los colores, apenas hay un poco de azul enciertas partes, pienso que es aberración cromática o algo así; pero de todos modos es muy buena.
