Diagnóstica Description:
Amplitude eave: of 30 to 34 mm.
The previous wing is white with a color strip dark coffee; in the apex and the marginal area, the internal edge of this strip is indented; in the end of the discal cell there is a manchita dark coffee; the later wing is white with color triangles dark coffee in the edge, at the end of each vein. Similar sexes.


Habitat: Edge of primary and secondary, potreros forests and coffee plantations. Service life: Eggs: of orange yellow color, solitary positions.


Service life: Eggs: of orange yellow color, solitary positions. Larva in fifth stage: of dark green color with longitudinal lines yellow pale; all the body is covered with black points.

Feeding: Lantana variety of flowers of forests and gardens and eupatorium. Relations: Hospedera plant: Costaricense Lepidium, Lepidium virginicum L. (Brassicaceae), Cleome sp. (Capparidaceae)


Distribution: Of the South of the United States, to the Center and the South of America, and in the Antilles.

Some little man from mars will be quite jealous of this butterfly when he sees its antennae with the little blue lobes at the end.
This is a lovely composition of this dainty little butterfly that look like it is hanging on for deer life. Good crop, nice colours, great DOF, and excellent exposure.

Hola Ricardo, esta mariposa me gusta mucho por dos cosas: 1. Por sus antenitas azules que son bellisimas y 2. Por el efecto de sombras que provocan las manchas en sus alas, delineando muy bien sus venas. Me impresiona ese detalle amarillo en el comienzo de sus alas (inspira fragilidad y delicadeza), y que se aprecia muy bien también en sus ojos. Quizá me hubiera gustado tener mas nitidez y mejor iluminación (se quemó un poco) en la flor, esta flor es algo laboriosa para captar, pero también muy bonita por su colorido y detalles.
