Scientific Name : Ardea Alba Linnaeus, 1758

Diagnóstica Description : It measures 101 cm. and 950 weight grs. He is greatest of the totally white herons, and longer neck. It has the yellow tip and the black legs in all the plumages. The rainbow is yellow clear.

Hábitat : They are in marshes, matting, edges of lakes or lagoons, salt mines, pools of salt water and rivers. They prefer habitats with superficial waters, a depth of 0,1 to 0,3 m.

Reproduction: Its nest consists of a rather endeble platform, made with coarse branches and fine small branches as lining, placed between mangle or another tree. They put 2 or 3 eggs of bluish green color. They reproduce mainly of July to November.



Stationality : Resident and individual populations appear migratory neárticos. Also, they carry out seasonal movements pronounced, related to the changes of the level of the water in his habitat.


Feeding : They stay quiet or they walk sigilosamente to catch fish with a fast movement (similar to the one of a lance). On the other hand, they are intolerantes to each other when feeding itself, and due to this they are scattered to the maximum throughout the area available.


Distribution : The Southeastern of Canada and the north of E.U.A. reproduce from to the south of Chile and Argentina. Those that they reproduce in the north hibernate from the E.U.A. south to the north of America of the South they find distributed widely in the Old World.

Preciosa foto de un pájaro tan blanco, que a veces hace perder todo los detalles. La composición y detalles son muy buenos, tal vez algo centrada. El acercamiento es para elogiar; yo estoy intentando tomar una buena en la laguna de mi pueblo pero no estan lo suficientemente cerca para tomar una buena, apesar que uso lente de 300 mm.
Lo que nunca vi es ese verde sobre el pico.
En definitiva un buen trabajo, amigo.

Hi Ricardo
This is an excellent image of this Great Egret or also called the White Heron. I especially fancy the way it seems to be in a deep pensive mood.
The composition is great and the colours are stunning. I have never seen before that the facial colour can actually display in green. The DOF is spot-on and it displays good details. The water surface forms an amazing BG that compliments and enhances the bird very well and the exposure was perfectly managed showing good contrast on the white feathers.
Very well done and TFS.

You have fantastic butterflies Ricardo, but I really love egrets. This one is beautiful with the green skin near the beak like the grass. Excellent POV. Where did you find the info you have posted? I am having difficulties with birds ID.
