Scientific Name: Danaus Plexippus

Diagnóstic Description:
Amplitude eave: of 41 to 48 mm similar Sexes.
Previous wing of black color with wide orange strip in basal, postbasal, subaverage and average the area. Two rows of white manchitas of the winch to the apex. In the average and postaverage area, four circular spots yellow orange. Later wing of orange color with marginal area of black color with a row of white points


Habitat : Edges of primary forests, secondary, pastizales forests and ways.


Service Life: Egg: solitaires, of white color.

Larva in fifth stage: capsule of the head of green color with lines to the sides and in the face of black color. Body of color green-yellow, with ring of black color between segment and segment. Each segment presents/displays a long strip in means of white color, two movable tubercles in the thorax and two shorter in the last abdominal segments.

Pupa: of sure green color in form of barrel, with points golden in the patches eave, to cremaster of black color.


Feeding: The adults visit the flowers of Lantana camara and curassavica Asclepias.

Hospedera plant: Curassavica Asclepias L. (Asclepiadaceae)

Distribution: Of North, Center and the South America, the Antilles, Island del the Coco, the Philippines, Australia, Sulawesi, Molucas, New Guinea and rare times the west of Europe

Hola Ricardo :), wow, que linda es!!! aprecio mucho más acercamiento en esta maravillosa toma, disfruto de mayor nitidez, riqueza en detalles y colores, me gustan los detalles de los pliegues de las alas. Yo no me habia dado cuenta que los puntos sobre su tórax y abdomen eran de colores tambien, los recordaba solo en negro, eso le da un toque mágico a la mariposa. Hola Ricardo,
Que bonitos colores has logrado, también en la composición y los detalles. Por acá hay unas muy parecidas, pero no soy experto en mariposas. Hace 20 años había muchas y las atrapaba pero cada vez hay menos por los agroquímicos. En el norte argntino hay una variedad mayor que en el centro del país.
La otra no la conozco, ya la criticaré, ahora debo irme

He leido quye le preguntas a Hernan sobre tus mariposas ,esta monarca si se ve en la ciudad y los entornos ;de niño en un gran parque de la universidad de Agronomia existia un arbol en que se veian muchisimas era un alcornoque arbol del corcho que creo es un roble.
Fotografie una emergiendo de su face de crisalida y cuando comienza a desplegar sus alas
