Wing span: 2 1/2 - 3 3/8 inches (6.3 - 8.6 cm).

Identification: Upper surface of male forewing white with black zigzag pattern on outer margin. Dry season female form resembles male with heavier black zigzag pattern and a small black spot in the wing cell. Wet-season female is darkened with black scales above and below.

Life History: Males patrol for females. Eggs are laid on the upper surface of host plant leaves in groups of about 20.

Caterpillar hosts: Mustard family (Brassicaceae) plants including beach cabbage (Cakile maritima), cultivated cabbage and radish, peppergrass (Lepidium species); and plants in the caper family (Capparidaceae) including nasturtium.

Adult food: Nectar from many species of flowers including saltwort, lantana, and verbena.

Habitat: Salt marshes, coastal dunes, open fields, and gardens.

Range: Resident of south Atlantic and Gulf coasts south through tropical America.

Technically as faultless as all your picture are. Would this be called a moth in common parlance since it has no color except a bit of black at the wintips?

Hola Ricardo, parece una mariposa de papel, captaste muy suavemente el detalle de las venas de sus alas que parecen borrarse en la composición, creo que aquí las flores juegan un papel importante parecen lamparitas que iluminan sutilmente la composición. Saludos Cordiales. *Ninfa Urania*

WOW! That is some bright white in that buterfly. Great job on the exposure, that was very difficult to keep detail through out the color range, but you did it. Compo. and framing are excellent, as is the detail. Well Done.

hello Ricardo,
as somebody who knows something from butterfly photo's I realy can say that you did here a very good job, the composition is nice taken, for myself I had cropped it some frome the left side, but thats personal, the pov is good and the contrast with the dark green is nice, well done.

A great capture of this wonderful butterfly, Ricardo.

Lovely details, colors, exposure, and BG which sets off the subject in this well composed shot.

Hola mi amigo querido,
No es por favor enojado en mí. Estoy absolutamente ocupado con el trabajo este los días y no tengo bastante tiempo que pasar en el TN, sino que estoy mirando todo su trabajo y cada vez que encuentro un poco espacio libre en mi horario yo intento coger para arriba con mis críticas. Cuido sobre mis amigos e intento no dejarlos abajo, incluso si soy atrasado a veces.
Contraste hermoso entre la mariposa aguda y blanca y el fondo verde profundo y velado . Su colección de las mariposas está creciendo en número cada día.
