Diagnóstic Description:
Amplitude eave: of 32 to 35 mm dimorphic Sexes.
Male: he has the dorsal surface of both wings of clear with areas basal, postbasal yellow color, subaverage and average dark yellow.
Female: it has the previous wing of yellow color with distal margin and apex dark coffee, whereas the later wing is yellow with distal margin dark coffee.




Habitat : Edges of forest, secondary bordered ways of forest and, broken margins of rivers and.



Service Life:
Larva in fifth stage: capsule of the orange head, body of pale orange color with green shades to the sides; upon the legs, of the first a onceavo segment, the color is blue black, whereas the last segments are cobrizos, espiráculos targets.



Feeding: The adults visit flowers of Lantana camara, Stachytarpheta spp., farinoso Combretum, Malvaviscus arboreus and regal Delonix.



Behavior: The males have an extremely quick flight and are very fast in the courtship of the females. A female in the heat of flight that happens near a male who feeds itself in a flower can be intercepted easily, be forced to settle and to be copulada in a lapse of between 15 and 30 seconds.



Relations:
Hospedera plant : Callichamys latifolia (Rich.) K. Schum. (Bignoniaceae), Cassia sp.(Caesalpinaceae), Dalbergia sp. (Fabaceae), y Calliandra sp. (Mimosaceae).


Distribution: Of the South from the United States to Brazil and Bolivia.

I can decipher subtle shades of color on its partially visible other wing, even though the predominant pale yellow itself is equally fascinating.
It is a pleasure to see the red and the yellow of nature in such beautiful harmony.

Hola Ricardo, creo que en esta ocasión la mariposa le da oportunidad de lucir a la flor, los tonos rojos son muy bellos, esas antenitas van directo a lo que parecen popotes de la flor que sustraen el néctar..que bella mariposa, simplemente bella, sencilla, con su color liso completamente amarillo, en mi libro de insectos encuentro una muy parecida denominada "Mariposa Nerón". También me gusta el ángulo captado en la flor, esa perspectiva de la pose de la mariposa sostenida sobre una esfera. Tú siempre con algo diferente en el Mundo Mágico de las Mariposas. Una barbaridad!! como decimos a veces acá, muy buen macro y detalles de las alas, la composición es muy buena con esas flores rojas y el amarilo de la mariposa resaltan bien con el fondo oscuro.
Ya no hace falta decirlo, tu nota es expléndida.
Tengo vistas unas orugas, espero tomar hoy unas fotos.
