[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Enallagma cyathigerum

The male has a blue abdomen with black spots; the female, a yellow or bluish abdomen with variable dark markings.

They appear to drift through the air, and they snatch their prey from vegetation. Damselflies rest with their wings folded lengthways along their body.

During mating, the male clasps the female by her neck while she bends her body around to his reproductive organs – this is called a mating wheel. The pair flies together over the water and eggs are laid within a suitable plant, just below the surface.

The eggs hatch and the larvae, called nymphs, live in the water. Nymphs climb out of the water up a suitable stem to moult into damselflies.

Saludos
Luis52.

La calida es suprema y es muy interesante ver la piel de la ninfa.
Buen trabajo Sr. Luis!

Hola Primo,

Would you please send one of these up to Arizona? We have very few dragonflies and I have never seen a blue one. The colors and details are magnificent - love the eye, wings and the blue/black combination.

Jane

That 105 lens is doing you justice Luis. It is not only sharp in it's glass but also retains colours well...I suspect this was NO discount lens...and look how close in you got! Very well done and if anyone can cut off a tail and make a A+ image....it would be you!
Bob

Helo Luis,
Fantastic macro of this beautiful bright blue Damselfly. Excellent sharpness and a fine background that makes it really stand out. Well composed too.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla
