[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Least Tern (Sternula antillarum) was enjoying the sun with a few others in a sandy beach which also was full with shells.

Breeds in North America and locally in northern South America. It is closely related to, and was formerly often considered conspecific with, the Little Tern S. albifrons of the Old World. Other close relatives include the Yellow-billed Tern S. superciliaris and Peruvian Tern S. lorata, both from South America.

Hello Everton,
A fine capture of the Least Tern, a species that I have never seen but this shot shows the slight difference between it and our Little Tern in Europe. It is sharp and taken from an excellent low side POV on the sand and set in a superb composition.
A great shot and thanks for sharing it,
Ivan

Hi Everton,

At first I thought you made another trip to Mexico but then I saw it is from April. I guess these Terns don't make it up to Arizona because I have not seen one. Wonderful pose and excellent details of the face and plummage. I haven't seen a beach with shells for ages!

Jane
