Summer Tanager
Piranga rubra Order PASSERIFORMES - Family THRAUPIDAE

The only entirely red bird in North America, the Summer Tanager is a bird of southern forests. It specializes in eating bees and wasps, both in the summer and on its wintering grounds in Central and South America.

Description
Medium-sized songbird.
Male entirely red; female dull yellow.

Size: 17 cm (7 in)
Weight: 30 g (1.06 ounces)

Male bright red, female greenish yellow.

This is really a special and handsome looking bird. You have captured it in a most pleasant pose, displaying all its lovely features. The details of the plumage is greatly captured and displayed. Focus and sharpness is splendid, camera work just great! Thanks for sharing, this very admirable bird.

Wonderful image Mario!!
Love the gorgeous yellow coloring and fine detail. Great eye catch light!! Beautiful bird!! TFS.
I would love to get a 400MM lens someday, right now I only have a 75-300 4.5-5.6 IS. I usually use my 200MM 2.8 IS because I can use it in lower lighting situations. The only drawback is that I have to be really close in order to get good detail.
