Here is another picture from Mexico, I took this picture about a mile down the beach from my Hotel, there were three Western Turkey Vulture(Cathartes aura meridionalis)
feeding on dead baby whale... the baby whale as curiosity was pretty much eaten and rotten... I had no interest of taking its picture, but I found very majestic the flight of the Vulture

Fun fact:

C. a. meridionalis, the Western Turkey Vulture, is a synonym for C. a. teter. C. a. teter was identified as a subspecies by Friedman in 1933, but in 1964 Alexander Wetmore separated the western birds, which took the name meridionalis, which was applied earlier to a migrant from South America. It breeds from southern Manitoba, southern British Columbia, central Alberta and Saskatchewan south to Baja California, south-central Arizona, and south-central Texas. It is the most migratory subspecies, migrating as far as South America, where it overlaps the range of the smaller C. a. aura. It differs from the Eastern Turkey Vulture in color, as the edges of the lesser wing coverts are darker brown and narrower

Hello Everton,

A beautiful inflight of a majestic bird. Nice natural colors. Some parts are very sharp. But I think there is a bit of noise on/around the brest of the bird. Anyway this is a good composition of this soaring Eastern Turkey Vulture. Tahnks for sharing. Have a nice weekend and TFS BOB

Hello Everton,

Excellent composition. Good POV and focus. Nice light and colours.

Hi Everton,

There was a flock of Turkey Vultures circling here the other day - never saw them here before. Maybe they made a wrong turn in Mexico. Great in-flight shot of this one. The wing span looks enormous and I can recognize him from the red head.

Jane
