Butterfly?

I photographed to this beautiful insect in the green area of the archaeological zone (Mayan Culture) in Comalcalco, Tabasco. I had to approach me much to be able to catch to this beautiful and small insect, which caused that it went away immediately, unfortunately only I could take two photos and is was the best one than I could catch.

Generally when I have gone to the archaeological zone I go directly to precious pyramids and I have not approached the border to the forest, but now that I did it: I have discovered an interesting universe of plants and insects.

The grace and appearance of this insect made think me about a beautiful small dragoon

Hopefully some of you helps me to identify it because I do not have information in my books until now. Gracias :)

Hi, Ninfa.
I have no idea about Mexican insects, but this nice creature looks a bit like some Clearwing moth (Sesiidae) that can be found in Europe. Maybe this will help.
As for the photo, pity that you couldn't get closer and take better shot with more details. I hope you will have another ocassion cause this is real beauty.

What a exotic insect!
No ideia what it could be!
But I agree with Monika when she writes that it looks lika a mothe that belongs to the Sesiidae family.
Very good details of this smal insetc!
