The size of this dragonfly is surprising for me, for that reason I have denominated it big damselfly, I have generally seen dragonflies of longitude from 4 to 5 centimeters, I include smaller as of 2 to 2.5 centimeters, but this very big era: approximately 8 or more centimeters, I came closer a lot to her to be able to photograph her, in this picture I carried out a since cut the original size of the picture it is of 1280 x 960, I carried out a cut and I adjusted the size, I applied shine and contrast, later the effect Unsharp. Hi Ninfa, good to see you back on TN. Good picture of this Damselfly. The colours are very nice and the focus is pretty good too, it could be a little bit sharper, but I like it alot. Well done.

Has regresado querida amiga mexicana y con una de tus alimañas preferidas, aunque en este caso, tus famosas cuerdas no aparecen... jejeje.
Muy buen POV con atinado encuadre y una nitidez y DOF acordes a las posibilidades de la cámara.
Bellos colores y una interesante nota.
Has visto alguno de los Damselfly que he publicado? Imagino que serian de tu gusto.

Hi Ninfa, It's a very nice shot of this damsel. I do not have a ID for you, maybe I can help a bit. My book says only two families of damsels are 8cm or larger. They are Demoiselles (Calopterygidae) and Malachites (Chlorolestidae). May be it helps.

Ninfa, Nice shot! This perspective centers the viewers attention on the those big bulbous eyes, legs & thorax. Good details seen. I'm no expert but it sure looks very similar to the "American Rubyspot" I posted some time back. It has the same shape & banded abdomen. It has the same "rubyspot" on the 1st third of its wing. Some of the same coloration. Thanx for posting this.

La pose y composición de esta caballito del diablo son muy buenos. Quizas forzando un poco el enfoque en el postprocesado podrias haber disimulado el efecto soft, pero aun asi la foto merece la pena, un saludo.

I was just thinking I had not seen an image from you for a while so it is most welcome to find this very good view of a Damselfly by you.
intresting note, the missing leg could be hidden behind the body or it could be just not there , it is not unkown for them to loose legs in spiders webs when they try and raid them of their contents, before the spider gets to them.
