Fringed Gentian
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Fringed Gentian, Gentianopsis crinita (formerly Gentiana crinita), native to wet, sandy prairie and swales near Lake Michigan in the Chicago area, which is a rare ecosystem, and a rare flower due to habitat destruction and plant collectors.
When I was photographing this flower, I had bright, harsh sunlight which didn't flatter the subject, so I asked a friend to stand so that the flowers were in her shade, then exposed using an SB800 flash. JPG capture, optimized in Photoshop CS2, resized in Photoshop Elements 3.
I believe that this is the first time that this species has been presented on TrekNature. |

Hi John, welcome to TN.
What a beauty this flower is - I just love that deep royal-blue colour. So it's a Fringed Gentian. Good sharp image, well composed, and I wish I could see it for real
Thanks for sharing (TFS)
