| I caught this Japanese Beatle wedged between two leaves. They devour plants and it made me think if the wind blew just right, this plant was ready to allow him to plummet to the ground, saving some of it's foliage. I know the subject is small here with lots of useless area's but it made up the whole composition, the whole story. I was actually pretty far away when I shot this but the pose was different by the time I got closer. It may not sit well with others so I may have to post a workshop of a tighter crop to show a closeup of the beetle. (I wish I had a macro lens!) |

Hi Scott.
What a lovely pose! The bug looks like a bridge. In spite of you don't have a macro lens, you have done it very very well my friend. Focus, POV, blurry BG, luminance... all things are acceptable. Successful work.
Greetings

Hi Scott,
The composition is what makes this shot excellent. This is perfectly framed and exposed. Rich natural color saturation and good detail. Your control on the DOF was perfect. All the plant and beetle are sharply detailed with a perfect OOF backround. It looks like a mighty struggle to hold on.

Hi Scott,
Nicely captured. Sharp and neat image. Great DoF. Without macro lens, this is already sharp and clear, nice surrounding too. Superb shot.

Hi Scott,
Well....I am not sure why anyone would want you to crop this anymore! You are correct...the "empty" area helps tell the story....what would a sentence be if we only used adjectives! Wonderfully composed, great color and clarity!
Take care,
