[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a common species of spider in local woodlands in the summer, and a casual walk in the woods at that time of year usually involves waving a stick in front of me to avoid walking into the webs of these and other species of spiders. It's highly ornamented abdomen is very unusual looking.

NEF capture, converted in Pixmantec RawShooter Premium 2006, optimized, cropped and resized in Photoshop CS2.

With a slight imagination, one ccan even define a facial expression on the variegate abdomen. Little reflections of flash light but stll impressing

bonjour john
c'est un peu dommage que le BG soit aussi foncé car la tête de l'araignée et ses pattes ne ressortent pas mais par contre j'aime beaucoup l'abdomen.

Hello John,

Very nice sharp picture of this spider. The abdomen looks like the head of a lion or a dog. Very nice colours.
Well done,

Cheers,
Mariki
