| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Harvestman, Daddy Long Legs, tentatively ID'ed as Phalangium opilio. These common Arachnids feed on a variety of soft-bodied arthropods and also may scavenge dead insects and other decaying organic materials, and may occasionally kill earthworms, other Harvestmen and spiders.
Although they appear to be quite spider-like, they are not true spiders, as their body segments are broadly joined with little differentiation between their cephalothorax and abdomen. Also, they don't possess web-spinning organs.
To photograph this one, I placed the camera on a macro-focussing stage on a tripod, and moved the flash off the camera, holding it to the left of the camera. |

Great shot John, very sharp and detailed. Love the colours. Never realized their eyes were so high up on their heads.

Excellent closeup John. The use of the very small buds to frame the harvestman compliments your subject well. The light & color are very nice, the fill is just right..
Great technique & results.
BTW - You helped me to see it was time to step back..and take a longer look.
I was on auto-pilot, & didn't realize it.
