[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For the past few weeks, I've been taking weekly hikes in the woods, waiting for spring flowers to arrive. Each week, the anticipation has grown. First, there was only the brown of last fall's leaves. Then there were hints of green poking through. And finally this weekend, the glorious colors of spring have arrived in my little corner of the world.

This lovely flower, Erigenia bulbosa (commonly called Harbinger of Spring), is one of the earliest blooming wildflowers in the mid-latitude United States. It's colorful red anthers quickly turn to black, giving this flower its other common name, "Salt and Pepper Plant." E. bulbosa is a perennial plant and a member of the carrot family (Apiaceae). This photo was taken at the Kokiwanee Nature Preserve near the confluence of the Salamonie and Wabash rivers, west of Huntington, Indiana. The property features a number of trails and some nice views overlooking the Salamonie River gorge. A number of buildings still stand on the property, giving evidence of its former use as a Girl Scout campground.

A real beauty of a flower Randy!!
Good detail and nice composition with great spring colors!!
I too have been waiting for some color to arrive here in Ohio. I saw my first flowers today in the woods, they kind of reminded me of dandelion blooms. TFS. Great notes!!
