Twin Flowers

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I found these flowers while hiking over the weekend at Ouabache State Park, near Bluffton, Indiana. They have some characteristics similar to spiderwort, but I think the spiderwort normally has three petals, and these have two.
I am at a loss for ID, so any help would be appreciated. I'll update my description accordingly, if someone can help ID these.
Ouabache State Park is situated along the banks of the Wabash River near the city of Bluffton, in northeast Indiana. The two most prominent features of the park are a caged preserve for American Bison, and a fire tower that remains standing and which visitors may climb for a panoramic view of the generally flat surrounding landscape. A number of hiking trails are found throughout the park, including a 6-mile trail that encircles most of the park. |

Great shot Randy,
Very beautiful little blooms showing fine detail and wonderful violet colors.
I agree with you, they do look like Spiderwort except for the two petals instead of three. I checked all my guides and nothing else looks like it, even the unopened heads and what you can see of the leaves point to Spiderwort. TFS.

Hallo Randy
A very special image with great details captured. The fine purple and yellow anthers are really beautiful and soft on the eye. The fine hairs of the leaf are also seen well and displays well in contrast with the purple petals. I also like the unopened bud in the middle of the frame. In my personal opinion it always adds a speciality to any flower image. Best regards and thanks for sharing.
