This wild cottentail blended in so well that I couldn't think of a better name for him. It was amazing that I was able to get as close as I did without having to do much of a crop.
He let me within five feet - easy - closer, but what startled me is how much they are like the marmots (posted earlier - much earlier) in that their coat literally blends into the background making them less visible for prey.
In Iowa, not only do they hide from coyotes, hawks, eagles, and man, but dogs like to give a good chase, as I'm sure do other predators that I am unsure about.
I was only in Iowa for a few days, but the variety of wildlife amazed me; I think it depends on where a person is and what you're looking for.
Due to the lighting (just as the sun was cresting), I had my camera on AV - a rariety for me. I took this while lying on my belly (and praying nobody would come out with a gun, head out to work, or call the police since it was in somebody's yard...) and held the camera as steady as I could.
I got up, covered in mud and grime, but to me, the results were worth it. I aimed (pun intended) to not only get the bunny, but also the leaves where he was about to jump into - without that, the name Camouflage just wouldn't do...
Thanks so much for looking - and if you know more about the bunny, do tell.
Have to run, but will be back later.
Enjoy and have a peaceful day.
:-)

We're neighbours today, Kathy! And what a great camouflage, this little rabbit sure needs it, they are so vulnerable and tender, even delicious ;-) You always make me laugh to go on people's yard to take picture, what a great idea! The fur of this bunny looks so soft I feel like caressing it. Thanks for the EAster Bunny of TN!

Wow awesome shot; the bunny's fur blends into the grass so well that keep getting distracted. Great shot!

Great shot of this cute little cottontail Kathy,
The detail is very sharp and the colors are as you stated, extremely camouflaged. I can tell by his pose that he is about ready to take off for the weeds.
Love the low POV and excellent exposure you managed to capture.

Hola Kathy.
Beautiful photo of this lovely Cottentail, it has a very natural colours and nice BG. We also have them arround here, and some times they are also easy prey for snakes too.
Nice to see this photo Kathy.
Great note!!
