Cypripedium calceolus

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I’ve been off the air for a while, as I’m on a work visit in the US. Managed, however, to record a number of interesting flowers in Minnesota.
Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium calculus) is a rare orchid, but may be found in most of North America. The plant can reach 80 cm in height; it often grows in small groups. The labellum of this genus forms a characteristic slipper, thst in this species is yellow, often veined with purple. The specimen in the picture is Cypripedium calceolus var. pubescens with flowers up to 8 cm long. |

Ishi,
Great image of this beautiful orchid. I like the backlighting effect you have captured. Good composition, very sharp focus and nice contrasting colours. Useful notes! TFS.

Hello Ishi,
A fine sharp capture of the Lady's Slipper Orchid flower taken from an excellent POV in fine lighting. It is also rare in Sweden and our ssp is a little darker with less yellow on the 'tails'.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Regards,
Ivan

Hello Ishi,
Interesting to hear that this Orchid is found in North America too while being rare like here. You've managed to get a lovely shot, very sharp and in beautiful light and colours.
Enjoy your stay in the States!
TFS and kind regards, Ulla
Bonjour Ishi,
Amicalement,
Hervé
