[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Tiarella cordifolia, Foam Flower, is one of nearly 700 species of the Saxifrage Family, whose members are largely distributed throughout mountainous areas of the Northern Hemisphere. Tiarella is found primarily in rich, shady woods, where it reaches its maximum height of 25 cm.

The small 6-10 mm in diameter flowers have 5 white petals in the shape of a star, and are grouped in foam-like clusters. Foam Flowers spread by rhizomes, as well as by seed.

Native Americans used the plant as a tea or a poultice made of the roots to cure a number o ailments and wounds.

I took advantage of a ray of sun filtering thru the tree canopy to illuminate this bunch.
