Hi Friends,

Back again after a gap. This time presenting the Great Mormon butterfly clicked when it was resting on a gravel pavement. All other butterflies seemed to restlessly flutter in search of nectar, but this one was so peacefully resting on the pavement.

This was shot during our visit to a small but beautiful butterfly house at St. Louis. It was a mindblowing experience to be amidst hundreds of butterflies hovering all around.

And now a small note on the Great Mormon:
(Courtesy Wikipedia)

Great Mormon (Papilio memnon) is a large butterfly with contrasting colors that belongs to the Swallowtail family. A common butterfly, it is widely distributed and has thirteen subspecies. The female is polymorphic and with mimetic forms.
The butterfly is large with 120 to 150mm span. It has as many as four male and nine female forms , a total of nine forms in all.

Hello San, You have taken this shot very well against the wall. I think given lighting conditions you have managed to shoot it very nicely. I am sure the experience must have been wonderful to see the butterflies all over and you are just enjoying yourself among them. Take care and post more of those butterflies. Ganesh
