[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an Ohio Praying Mantis doing what they like to do .. they clean themselfs all the time .. that's her own foot in her mouth ..after cleaning that leg she picked up the other hind leg and licket it clean too..

another note,, BLACK EYES .. If you see a photo og a praying mantis with black eyes .. you can be sure the picture was taken at night .. A few hours after the Sun goes down the mantis eyes trun black .. This gal was taken from a bush in my yard at midnight .. I took her in shot a few pictures and let her free..

also note you can see the twin SB600 flash units in her eyes too !!!

I love these creatures. You've done an excellent job framing this. The details are clear and I get a sense of his jaws. The overall composition is terrific.

Beautifully captured. I recently tried to take some macros of a mantis but none are nearly so nice as yours.
