[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There were three baby groundhogs playing and eating in a field near our picnic at Armco Park near Lebanon, Springboro, and Middletown, OH. I was only able to capture two of the babies together in a photo--they are so quick! Groundhogs are usually born in mid-April or May and by July they are able to go out on their own, however I did not see the mother anywhere close by (which surprised me). These babies must have been less than a month old because they are the smallest I have ever seen. The size of the litter is usually anywhere from 4 to 9 babies. A baby groundhog is called a kit or a cub. The average groundhog is 20 inches long and normally weighs anywhere from 12 to 15 pounds so these little guys have some growing to do this summer.

Very beautiful composition. Even though the picture needs a bit more of sharpness, I appreciate your idea. The colours are excellent and the subjects very cute. Well done!

Hi Traci,

Beautifull capture you made.
I think it even can be better when you cropp it a bit , increase the sharpness and contrast. But this version is allready very interesting.

Thanks,

Hendrik

You have a good comp, the subjects just need to be a bit sharper, try increasing the sharpness by 2 pixel radius at about 75%. I would also increase highights and reduce saturation just a bit to bright down the exposure.
